A Trunk-load of Fun

August 25, 2010 5 Comments
Before I get to the body of the post, I just want to remind you that I'm reaching out to you all for guest posters in two weeks. You can email me at haboyajian {at} gmail {dot} com or just leave a comment HERE and I'll get in touch with you!

Saturday was a very special day. Saturday was my godson's birthday. He's 3 and there has never been a bigger fan of the pachyderm. So in honor of his love for them, Dev and I conjured up three shirts for him.

Here's what we came up with!
We found these T's at Target, but they all had pockets. The pockets had to go. :)

Not the week for crafts...

July 10, 2010 5 Comments
So I've gotten nada done this week. Next week will be better I promise. I have lots of  ideas.....need more time.

I was hoping to have the floor candlesticks done, but yea....I accidentally painted them chrome instead of aluminum. I should probably organize my spray paints so that I don't have to  look at the paint remnants on the nozzle to guess the color.

OPENING DAY!

July 01, 2010 4 Comments
I'm slightly excited......can you tell? I have teamed up with Laura from Along for the Ride and she is hosting a giveaway for a credit to the new shop....so maybe you should go over there! :)

The shop is stocked and ready for shoppers! Let's help drive the American economy, because when you buy...I then have to buy more in order to make more. It's a vicious cycle. Honest. ;-)

Ok, I'm done sounding like a used car salesman. :)

I would love it if you all would take a look around and give me feedback on what you think. I have more pillows in the works, but there's a shirt dress with  my name on it that's begging to be made :) Harrison also has a hawaiian romper that's also pleading with me to be made...so I'm going to work on that stuff before I make any more pillows. :)

However, I have not forgotten that I promised you guys a surprise yesterday and here it is! A custom little image for the American Girl in your life! Just in time for the 4th too!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Just click on the image, then right click and save as. They are PNGs so you can edit and alter them w/o mussing them too much. :)

I hope you guys have a wonderful day! Tomorrow is Friday Food Frenzy, and I'm excited about Dae's post because when it publishes she will be in the air en route to ME! Yay! Dae will be visiting for 9 days, so you all will see quite a bit of hers and my shenanigans for the next week. :) I also have tons of projects that still need to be done.....hrm, maybe I can recruit Dae to help me.....*snickers* :)

Have a terrific day!
Heather

Red, White and Vroooom!

June 05, 2010 11 Comments
So I know the 4th is a ways off, but its never to early to get into the patriotic spirit! A while ago, I stocked up on blank t-shirts for the boys and I with the intention of sprucing them up, and it has begun! While stocking up on baby supplies, I wandered around into the baby section of Target, and saw an adorable shirt that had a truck in Old Glory's colors and Red, White and Vrooom! beneath it. Love.At.First.Sight. My boys had to have it. Not paying the $10 they wanted for it though. It's just a t-shirt for Pete's sake. So here's my take on their show!

A Place to Rest your Drink?

June 03, 2010 12 Comments
So I got another Father's Day gift knocked out today, and I'm very excited to share it with you all. I've been on a definition kick lately and since there are a plethora of baseball terms to choose from, I decided that we needed some baseball terms defined for these coasters. I also bought this Omni Transfer Medium a while ago, and have not had a chance to use it until now. Other than being messy, and probably needing to improve my technique, I'm very happy with how they turned out. :) So without further ado, on to the show!

Being a Baseball Widow

May 27, 2010 7 Comments
I know some of you gals will sympathize with me about being a baseball widow, but I'm not just a baseball widow....I'm a red sox widow. *sigh* I know that Papi has hit 8 home runs recently despite early-in-the-season talk that he was in a slump. I know that Jacoby Ellsbury just came off the injured list after breaking some ribs. I don't know these things because I want to know them. I know them because my husband told me, because like any good wife I have learned enough about his interest to be able to have a conversation with him. I'm sure you all can empathize.

A Super Mario Bros. Art Project!

May 26, 2010 5 Comments
So I've been hankering to do this project for a while now, but because I wanted to get the bedroom done...I put it off, until now!

Subway art is super easy and chic right now, and I wanted to make some, but for who? Devlin! The boy loves the Super Mario Bros.! So I made him some art using all of the characters and then some from Super Mario Bros. I asked him which ones he wanted included and then went about laying it all out in Photoshop.

ABC....easy as 1 2 3!

April 22, 2010 11 Comments
Sometimes I make things more complicated than they have to be, and then genius strikes and saves me a lot of effort! I love when that happens. Well, I love when it happens early in the process. ;-)

So I love that all these letters and typography stuff is popular now, what's even cooler is that Devlin wants to move out the Red Sox stuff in his room {his father is heartbroken}, but Dev has told me he wants an ABC room! Yay....because I love the possibilities that this brings, so today in about 3 hours I whipped up a really cute pillow!

Also please let me know if you like the collage effect. I'm trying it out and don't know if I like it or not. I look forward to hearing from you!

Four Frame Collage - Gift Idea!

April 14, 2010 8 Comments
So I was surfing around How Does She? a while back and come across her tutorial for make four dollar store frames look good, and I was in love. I knew this would make a wonderful gift for someone.

Jess stop reading - unless you want don't want to wait to find out what I made you, then by all means read on. :)

So I found the frames that were mentioned in the tutorial, and then had a hard time deciding on the finish for the frames. I originally wanted to just paint them white and then glaze them and add appliques. Then I thought about just decoupaging paper to them like the tutorial did, but I didn't want anything to color specific. I know that Jess is redoing her kitchen in a pretty taupe color (very similar to what I've picked for our master bedroom!) and she's keeping the green  that was there along with white, but then I thought that while I envision these frames for her kitchen, she may not put them there. Oh the dilema!

Then I remembered that The Graphics Fairy has this lovely letter image! Bingo....we're golden.

Should have been simple....

March 07, 2010 1 Comments
I am the first to admit that if I see something I like then I will probably copy it, and when I saw these cute Pottery Barn knock-offs at the Haverford House, then I knew that these would make a lovely addition to my Easter tablescape. I downloaded some images from The Graphics Fairy and then printed them out at 5" tall.

I figured that this would be a simple project that Dev and I could do together. Obviously, a 4 year-old would not be able to do the cutting or the gluing with any degree of accuracy, but I thought the glitter part would be up his alley. Ha! Silly Mommy you cannot compete with Mario, Yoshi and the lure of all his other toys. Sigh....At least Steve kept me company and helped me with my craft. I did end up doing most of the craft myself but more on that later.

Message/Idea Photo Collage

March 05, 2010 14 Comments
Photo frame collages are uber popular right now, and as such they are everywhere. Target has several photo frame collages that I love, but I don't love the $25 price tags. Not to mention they look really, really easy to make so I decided that I would try my hand at making one for my sewing room.

I wanted to incorporate the vintage scissor art that I made a few days ago, and a few weeks ago Shanty 2 Chic posted this tutorial on making your own dry erase board, and I knew I could expand on it. :) Do you see where my ideas start to mesh together? So off to A.C. Moore I go.

Arts and Crafts

March 01, 2010 7 Comments
Well, I'm still working on my suit for the baptism, but I had some time today when I couldn't work on it (in other words, H was awake and not himself...he's teething. Cut his first tooth on Saturday) and while I had a few minutes I decided to do a quick art project.

I found this blog the other day that I absolutely love. It's called The Graphics Fairy, and she has a lot of wonderful images, and I thought maybe I could incorporate something like this into my room. So I searched  her site and found some vintage scissor graphics. I decided that they would make a nice artsy addition to my bare room. They'll also work for when I revamp my room (hopefully sooner than later)!
