Snowflakes, Anyone?

December 12, 2013 0 Comments
What is it that when you bust out certain materials the creativity just seems to pour out of you in a great river? The popsicle sled ornaments from a few days ago spurred such an occurrence.

Harrison was playing with some of the sticks, before I let him have the glue and he created this simple snowflake. Its so small and sweet, just like Harrison ....... when he's sleeping. I wanted to make more. So I busted out some larger snowflakes - not knowing what the crap I was going to do with them. Everyone does that right? Make something or several somethings without fully knowing just how they're going to get used? I can't be alone in this.

Well after all the snowflakes were dry, I decided they needed something. Out came the same gold GlitterBlast from the paper dahlias. Seriously, love this stuff!

Trying to capture the glittery goodness of these things is hard!

Then my snowflakes sat on my dining room table for a bit. We had Thanksgiving dinner in our kitchen, because the snowflakes were on the dining room table - waiting. Then I got inspired. I was perusing HGTV.com and their plethora of design ideas for Christmas and I was struck by lightening. I knew exactly what I was going to do with my giant snow flakes.

So how do you like them now? I love them! I love my mantle this Christmas. I love everything about it. Do you?

I guess its about time I got to showing off the rest of the Christmas decor. Get ready!

Valentine's Day Mantle

February 07, 2013 0 Comments
The Winter mantle has come down and hopefully Spring is right around the corner, but right  now Valentine's Day is up!

There's not much to say, so I'll just show it off!

There are a couple of other V-Day touches around the house as well. :)

Well there are my little touches!

Never to Late!

January 23, 2013 1 Comments
So I know that I'll be setting up the old V-Day mantle here in about a week, but I figure its never to late to show off the winter mantle that I've had up since Christmas came down.

I did end up using some of my ornaments from Christmas but they're snowflakes, so they're completely within keeping. Oh and I did use my pearl bead garland that was around the chandelier.

Well there's the winterscapes. Hope you guys enjoyed!

Thanksgiving Mantle

November 15, 2012 0 Comments
I'm getting back into the swing of things here at home, and I'm excited to share my Thanksgiving mantle with all of you guys.

Its more toned down version of what I usually do, but I'm finding myself trending back towards a more uncluttered look.
I am really loving how simplistic the whole thing is. I am also loving the little touches here and there of color.

I really love this. I saw the idea on BHG.com and its a Thanksgiving tree (cause you know I'm a sucker for anything tree). We cut out some leaves and each wrote what we're thankful for. Devlin elected himself as Harrison's honorary writer, and here are some of our leaves. Ok, they're all the boys' leaves, but I love this! It was fun taking them out last week after Sandy came through to find the perfect branches.

Here's another change: I brought back these curtains. If you recall I changed these curtains out just after Christmas of last year, and now they're back. I'm so glad I kept them, because they lend a warmer feel to the room than the other curtains.

Here's my little guy again, cheesing it up for the camera. Seriously, I have to stop pulling out the camera when he's awake, because every time he sees it he tries to bogart it and repeatedly says, "cheese!", until I take his picture. Its cute at first. Then its just annoying. He does take a nice picture though. :)

Happy Halloween Y'all!!!

October 31, 2012 1 Comments
Its been an adventuresome couple of months here, but hopefully the changes will be dying down. I went back to work for a spell, and then the hubs got a job, so I left said job to go back to staying at home and so far its been awesome. Except  for, ya know, the hurricane conditions.

Luckily, I had Halloween set up before Sandy decided to visit, and even more lucky is that we did not lose power. It flickered and what not, but never went out, so I'm just going to thank my lucky stars for that.

So here's our Halloween decor! Pay no mind to the mess......I had to rearrange the rooms on Sunday.

I reused stuff that I've had in years past, with the addition of my red apple. I had grand illusions of doing an Evil Queen themed mantle, and well that was my addition. :)

Oh for the table I did add a new purple owl. Love the $1 section at Target!

So there's the buffet in the dining room. I'll be showing more of  the dining room later, but as you can see - its been painted again. :)

And that was Hurricane Sandy at about 3 or 4 on Monday. It got much worse later through the night, but thankfully we got through unscathed.

I'll be posting more often because I have actually gotten projects done while I was working I just didn't have time to post them!

Curled Paper Rosette Wreath

January 25, 2012 1 Comments
Hey guys!

So I told you earlier today that I was going to be sharing something.

And here I am to share!
Here's a new wreath and my Valentine's Day mantle. I decided to go with the KISS method for my mantle. Keep It Simple Stupid.

All of these flowers and props are things I had, but I love all the reds and pinks. Especially the peonies. Love peonies! They're just so big and fluffy and happy. :) What flowers do you guys like for V-Day?

Here's a close-up of the wreath. I used paper plates for the roses and just some scrap fabric to hang it up. The wreath took a bit to do, but I was able to watch two movies while working on it and it was nice that H slept the WHOLE time. Can you believe it? I got a two-fer movie nap! Yay !

So here's another angle of my mantle and the wreath.

I have to admit that I  really like the simplistic look going on here.

See you guys tomorrow!

My Christmas Mantle

December 08, 2011 0 Comments
Hey guys! I'm sick - you wanted to know that didn't you.

So since I've been ordered to rest and have plenty of fluids along with my codeine-laced cough syrup (which is disgusting, btw) I asked the hubs to take some shots of our Christmas mantle.

It is similar to last's years mantle. I liked last year's mantle so why change it?

I still love that mixed nut wreath from last year, although I have been thinking of making it a bit more festive. Maybe next year.

Oh and just to refresh your memories - last year's mantle looked like this

See you guys next week! I can't wait to show off the house. :)
